Our first day with Thao, the easy rider

We arrived late in Mui Ne, a small city very popular for Russian tourists. In the morning we met our guides for the following 5 days, Thao and Lam.

Thao was recommended by Marvin and Jean & Julie, who all had wonderful experiences with him.

They drive tourists on their bikes, we're sitting behind them, and show people remote places. With them we saw plantations: tea, coffee, cashew... We saw a farm that raises geckos (they really eat everything that moves), a village of mountain people where we gave candies to kids, saw how they pick vegetables and mushrooms. I learned that they raise dogs for protection and also for food :( I could never eat a dog I've had as a companion.

Anyway it's a nice way to travel around the countryside, it's different from Saigon!
At the end of the afternoon, we arrived at a beautiful resort. The owner is a Vietnamese who was born in Belgium, and who moved here 5 years ago. He is now married and he's got a beautiful little daughter, so so cute. His resort was wonderful. Our room had a view on a waterfall, overlooking rice terraces, we had a swimming pool and everything was so cute and beautiful, with trees and flowers. We took a dip in the swimming pool it felt really nice!

In the evening, Renaud, the owner, prepared us a bbq and Thao asked him to cook a squid he bought in the morning at the harbour. It was a perfect moment with our guides, we had cold beers (Thao and Lam had regular temperature beers, I don't know why they prefer it that way), great food, perfect temperature on the terrace and the sound of the cicadas. After dinner, with the sound of the waterfall and the bugs outside, we got back to our beautiful room with a mosquito net around the bed.

Renaud is a really nice guy and his resort is perfect. He was so helpful. He took care of our laundry, and also I had some stomach issues and he gave me Belgian medicine.

Céline will show you pictures of the resort, it's amazing. I really recommend the place! It's like a perfect romantic place for a honeymoon.

This morning we left Renaud and his family and hit the road, we visited a lady that makes rice noodles and another that recycles rubber to make out of it a girth. Pretty nice.

At noon we went to a waterfall, splendid, and had a swim. We stopped for a lunch in a small restaurant on the side of the road, the clients there were so happy to see a westerner. From my previous times in China I know what people like that love, so I sat next to the girls, smiled and did the victory sign with the fingers, they were so excited it's so funny. Unfortunately for them I'm almost one of them, being half Vietnamese. But they can't always tell. Thao did notice I'm a bit Asian but he thought I'm Chinese. Or Filipino.

Today we'll spend the rest of the day in Da Lat, take advantage of the nice hotel to rest our sunburnt arms (Céline) or knees (because I was in shorts on the motorbike on the first day). Also my mosquito bites. I got bitten like ten times in 3 minutes in the Mekong. It's good I took a shirt with long sleeves and I have regular pants.

Kisses to all!
